Overall Role:
The role of the Personal Care Aide on any shift is to provide assistance to residents in activities of daily living (ADLs) and conduct activities that ensure a safe, sanitary, and comfortable living environment in a home-like setting.
This is a full or part-time, hourly paid position. Shifts may range from 2 to 12 hours, depending on the needs of the organization. Staff is not guaranteed a specific shift or rotation. Performance is evaluated daily, and no guarantee of permanent employment is implied.
Assist with preparation, serving, and cleanup of meals/snacks.
Assist residents with medication self-administration and documentation (after training).
Support with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, toileting, etc.
Help residents with mobility and transfers (bed, chair, toilet, etc.).
Support light exercises, walking, and social activities (games, crafts, reading).
Assist residents with using phones, TVs, hearing aids, and appliances.
Perform basic first aid, CPR, blood pressure checks, glucose monitoring (after training).
Maintain cleanliness of rooms, bathrooms, and facility as needed.
Handle laundry, light kitchen tasks, and minor facility tasks (e.g., light bulbs, snow shoveling).
Respond to resident requests and emergencies promptly.
Maintain a respectful and caring attitude at all times.
Manage and redirect resident behavior with compassion and patience.
Follow all emergency protocols and drills.
Accurately complete documentation and incident reporting.
Professionally answer phone calls and greet the public.
Follow all care plans, policies, and assigned tasks.
Honor resident confidentiality and rights to independence and dignity.
Report safety issues or concerns immediately.
Maintain appropriate dress, behavior, and communication.
Immediately report complaints, behavior issues, or safety threats to supervisor/admin.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
18+ years old, pass background check and drug screening.
Able to read and write English legibly.
At least 1 year of experience as a Personal Care Aide OR be willing to train as a nurse aide (3 months at minimum wage).
CPR/First Aid certification (upon hire); Medication Assistance Certificate preferred.
Physically capable (lift 50 lbs., walk, bend, stand, etc.); will undergo physical assessment.
Accept supervision, manage priorities, and respond positively to workplace demands.
Ability to manage challenging situations involving illness, bodily fluids, or resident distress.
Willingness to be a team player, protect company property, and avoid personal use of equipment.
Commitment to continuing education and timely attendance on any shift as needed.
Responsibility to care for both facility and resident property respectfully.
